Marathi Team Lead

In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as the Marathi Quality Assurance Lead (QAL), responsible for overseeing quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Marathi AI training projects. Your primary role will involve reviewing AI-generated Marathi content and the work of trainers and QAs, assessing output quality against project guidelines, and providing clear, precise written feedback. You will ensure that all contributors adhere to the expected quality standards, maintaining high accuracy and cultural appropriateness throughout the project lifecycle.

You will evaluate work for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural relevance, meaning preservation, instruction compliance, formatting, and alignment with project-specific rubrics. Identifying recurring quality issues and communicating necessary updates to trainers and QAs will be key. Additionally, you will support onboarding processes, maintain comprehensive documentation, and encourage consistent contributor engagement. This role demands strong Marathi and English language skills, exceptional attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage quality workflows within remote teams.

The selection process includes an AI interview, a domain-specific task, and a recruiter interview.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct quality monitoring by spot-checking Marathi items, identifying quality issues, providing ongoing feedback via direct messages, and escalating critical or recurring problems.
- Communicate regularly with trainers and QAs on Discord regarding new item guidelines, project updates, workflow changes, and quality expectations.
- Address trainer and QA questions promptly and clearly, especially those related to Marathi wording, register, translation accuracy, cultural context, regional usage, and edge cases.
- Manage trainer and QA activation by reaching out to inactive contributors, encouraging participation, tracking follow-ups, and flagging availability concerns when necessary.
- Develop and maintain Marathi project documentation, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
- Organize and conduct onboarding and training sessions for trainers and QAs to clarify project expectations, workflows, rubrics, quality standards, and Marathi-specific style requirements.
- Ensure consistent application of Marathi language guidelines by all trainers and QAs and facilitate understanding of updates as projects evolve.
- Identify recurring quality gaps, propose workflow improvements, and contribute to building scalable QA processes for Marathi-language projects.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marathi, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Marathi with strong reading and writing skills.
- Strong command of English to follow project guidelines, communicate effectively with teams, and provide clear feedback.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Marathi writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
- Deep understanding of Marathi grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, regional variations, and cultural context.
- Ability to evaluate Marathi content against detailed rubrics and identify issues such as mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
- Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced remote environments using tools like Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, capable of maintaining style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
