Marathi Team Lead with Mathematical Background

In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as a Marathi Quality Assurance Lead (QAL), responsible for overseeing the quality, consistency, and performance of trainers across Marathi AI training projects. Your role involves reviewing AI-generated Marathi content and the work of trainers and QAs, evaluating output quality against project guidelines, and providing clear, precise written feedback. You will ensure that all contributors adhere to the expected quality standards, maintaining accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, formatting, and compliance with project-specific rubrics.

You will identify recurring quality issues, communicate updates to trainers and QAs, support onboarding processes, maintain comprehensive documentation, and help reactivate contributors who are not consistently engaged. This role requires strong proficiency in both Marathi and English, excellent attention to detail, structured communication skills, and the ability to manage quality workflows across remote teams. Your leadership will contribute directly to improving leading AI models by ensuring Marathi training data is natural, accurate, culturally relevant, and aligned with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor quality by spot-checking Marathi items, identifying issues, providing ongoing feedback via direct messages, and escalating critical or recurring problems.
- Communicate regularly with trainers and QAs on platforms like Discord, sharing updates on item guidelines, project changes, workflow adjustments, and quality expectations.
- Respond promptly and clearly to questions from trainers and QAs, especially regarding Marathi wording, register, translation accuracy, cultural context, regional usage, and edge cases.
- Manage activation of trainers and QAs by reaching out to inactive contributors, encouraging participation, tracking follow-ups, and flagging availability concerns when necessary.
- Create and maintain Marathi project documentation, including style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
- Organize and conduct onboarding and training sessions to explain project workflows, rubrics, quality standards, and Marathi-specific style requirements to trainers and QAs.
- Ensure consistent application of Marathi language guidelines across all contributors and keep the team aligned with updates as projects evolve.
- Identify recurring quality gaps, suggest workflow improvements, and contribute to building scalable QA processes for Marathi-language projects.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Marathi with strong reading and writing skills.
- Strong command of English to follow project guidelines, communicate effectively with teams, and provide clear feedback.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in Marathi writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
- Deep understanding of Marathi grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, regional variations, and cultural context.
- Ability to evaluate Marathi content against detailed rubrics, identifying issues such as mistranslations, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
- Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced remote environments using tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, capable of maintaining style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
