Mechanical Helper

Master Plastic Pack seeks a diligent Mechanical Helper to support the mechanical maintenance and operational tasks within our facility. This role is designed for a candidate with foundational mechanical knowledge and equipment handling skills, ideally possessing a Matric certificate or a Diploma of Associate Engineering in Mechanical fields. The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance technicians and engineers, assisting in routine upkeep, troubleshooting, and the safe operation of mechanical tools and welding equipment. With 2 years of relevant experience, the Mechanical Helper ensures that all mechanical aspects of production equipment run smoothly, contributing significantly to the efficiency and safety of the workflow. This position includes managing a team of four persons, requiring strong leadership to coordinate tasks and maintain cooperation among team members. The role demands physical fitness to perform manual and technical duties, including handling hand and power tools and assisting in welding processes while rigorously following safety protocols. The Mechanical Helper plays a vital role in ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence at Master Plastic Pack by maintaining a collaborative and proactive approach in the maintenance department.
Responsibilities

Assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation of machinery.
Operate and handle hand tools, power tools, and welding accessories safely and effectively during mechanical and assembly tasks.
Support welding professionals by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and assisting with welding tasks while adhering to established safety procedures.
Perform routine equipment inspections and help identify areas requiring maintenance or repair to prevent downtime.
Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues under supervision to provide timely support for production line continuity.
Manage and coordinate a team of four helpers to allocate mechanical and maintenance tasks efficiently, ensuring teamwork and productivity.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment by following company safety standards and operational guidelines.
Report any mechanical faults or hazards immediately to supervisors to uphold workplace safety.
Assist with the documentation of maintenance activities and inventory management of mechanical tools and parts.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills by collaborating with other departments and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
