Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO) is a leading integrated energy conglomerate and a joint venture between Pakistan and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The company operates Pakistan’s most advanced refinery, an extensive pipeline network exceeding 2,000 kilometers, strategic storage facilities, and robust marketing operations. With partnerships involving internationally renowned firms, PARCO pursues an aggressive growth strategy focused on expansions, acquisitions, and market penetration. Currently, PARCO is seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its team at the Mid-Country Refinery.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for managing both rotary and stationary equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. For rotary equipment, the role involves monitoring equipment condition, prioritizing maintenance activities, and conducting root cause failure analysis to address recurring issues. The engineer will lead troubleshooting efforts, develop repair plans, and maintain a reliability database aligned with global best practices. Providing technical support during major maintenance activities and coordinating with contractors to ensure quality and compliance are essential duties. Additionally, the engineer will design and implement innovative tools and techniques to enhance operational efficiency.

Regarding stationary equipment, the engineer will oversee maintenance strategies for heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, reactors, and piping systems. This includes developing preventive maintenance programs, conducting fitness-for-service evaluations, and managing inspection and repair activities. The role requires supporting turnaround and shutdown operations, supervising contractor work, and ensuring adherence to industry codes such as API and ASME. The engineer will also contribute to risk-based inspection programs, coordinate with process and operations teams, and review mechanical and piping designs to meet safety and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized university and possess valid registration as an Engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). A comprehensive understanding of rotating and stationary equipment within refinery, fertilizer, or petrochemical industries is essential. Proficiency in vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and predictive maintenance techniques is required, along with strong problem-solving skills and experience in root cause failure analysis (RCFA).

Applicants should have up to eight years of relevant experience working with rotary and stationary equipment, including compressors, pumps, turbines, fans, gearboxes, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems. Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ASME, ANSI, and ASTM is mandatory. Experience with HAZOP, Management of Change (MOC) processes, and Permit to Work (PTW) systems is also necessary. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on expertise in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, welding, corrosion control, non-destructive testing (NDT), and pressure testing (hydrostatic and pneumatic) related to equipment integrity.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

PARCO values teamwork and effective communication skills, expecting candidates to be collaborative and articulate in both verbal and written forms. The company promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment and is committed to attracting and nurturing top talent. As an equal opportunity employer, PARCO encourages applications from all qualified individuals regardless of background.

The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and technologically advanced refinery setting, contributing to critical maintenance operations that support Pakistan’s energy infrastructure. The role provides exposure to international standards and best practices, fostering professional growth and development within a reputable energy conglomerate.

Location: Mid-Country Refinery
