Summary of position: Providing nursing, maternity & neonatal care, treatment and follow-up of patients in assigned ward (birthing/delivery unit, New Born Unit (NBU), ER, Triage, ANC, PNC, IPD etc.) according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

 

•       Knowing, promoting, implementing and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment. Respecting médical secrets and confidentiality at all times.

 

•       Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and assisting during consultations, daily rounds and other medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.

 

•       Ensures and supervises all aspects of maternity/neonatal care from Lady Health Visitor staff. Implement ANC/PNC/ delivery protocols in the birthing unit. Perform normal deliveries independently, including episiotomy if required.

 

•       Respond to nursing/obstetric emergencies/complicated deliveries and seek advice from the doctor/ specialist in complicated or high-risk cases.

 

•       Recognize, manage, and refer complications arising in the first, second or third stage of labor.

 

•       Prepare the patients for the C-section including counseling of the patients and their attendants as per standard operating procedures.

 

•       Together with Nursing Care Providers / Paramedic Helpers, monitor patient vital signs, calculation of the dosages. Ensure safe administration of oral, IM, IV drugs as per Doctors instructions/prescriptions and in accordance with MSF protocols.

 

•       Safe insertion and administration of IV cannula, taking IV blood, management of IV fluids, neonatal resuscitation (directly or by supervising LHVs, Nurse Assistants).

 

•       Identifying Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and referring them to the medical team so they can receive the necessary treatment. Knowing and is aware of the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit.

 

•          Ensure patients who need referrals are prepared to be taken to the referral arranged hospitals after the patients consent or care taker consent.

 

•       Builds rapport with patients and re-assures  are patients-friendly service provision as this treatment is frustrating to patients due to pain and long term use/medication

 

•          Ensures clean treatment environment,and proper organization of her treatment room to avoid re-infection and mix up of patients medications,avoid needle pricks etc.

 

•          Collaborates with the outreach team for efficient running of the activities in the mobile clinic

 

•          Be able to identify a survivor and provide the necessary support including referrals needs to Kuchlak through a phone call on way forward.

 

Language:

 

·       Essential Local language (Urdu).

 

·       Proficiency in English.

 

 

 

 

Note: The position will not be an Inpat and no relocation allowance will be given. The selected candidate need to relocate themselves to Quetta.
