Aga Khan University Hospital’s Clifton Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a dedicated Medical Officer to join its Day Care Chemotherapy unit in Karachi. CMS is an extension of the hospital’s outreach centers, providing accessible, high-quality healthcare services around the clock. The facility offers 24/7 emergency care, multi-specialty clinics, and specialized units including state-of-the-art Daycare Chemotherapy and Dialysis. The Medical Officer will play a vital role in delivering compassionate patient care, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of experienced healthcare professionals. The position demands commitment to maintaining international standards of patient safety and quality, aligned with CMS’s Joint Commission International accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients before and during chemotherapy administration to ensure safe and effective treatment.
- Administer chemotherapeutic agents strictly according to consultants’ instructions.
- Prescribe appropriate post-chemotherapy medications and monitor patient responses.
- Perform outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as Lumbar Puncture, Intrathecal chemotherapy, Paracentesis, Bone Marrow aspiration, and Trephine Biopsy.
- Participate actively in outpatient clinics and assist in patient management under supervision.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of medical records and treatment plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, consultants, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Engage in continuous professional development through journal clubs and medical education activities.
- Collaborate closely with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Conduct initial patient evaluations, investigations, and management to uphold high clinical quality and service standards.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
- Additional diploma or MCPS in a relevant field is preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant clinical experience.
- Valid license to practice from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Capability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to different rotations and shifts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
