Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO), a leading integrated energy conglomerate and a joint venture between Pakistan and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, operates Pakistan’s most advanced refinery, an extensive pipeline network exceeding 2,000 kilometers, strategic storage facilities, and marketing operations. With partnerships involving renowned international companies, PARCO is focused on aggressive growth through expansions, acquisitions, and entry into new markets. The company is currently seeking a qualified Medical Officer to join its team at the Head Office in Karachi.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Officer will provide comprehensive medical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment services to employees and their eligible dependents. This role includes delivering telehealth consultations via the Healthcare Management System, offering medical advice, follow-up care, and coordinating referrals. Managing primary emergencies and stabilizing patients before referral to panel hospitals is a critical responsibility. The Medical Officer will conduct outpatient department (OPD) consultations, maintain accurate medical documentation, and coordinate referrals to panel hospitals, laboratories, and specialists in line with company policies.

Additional duties include assisting with periodic medical examinations and employee fitness assessments, supporting occupational health and preventive healthcare programs, and participating in health awareness sessions and wellness activities. The role requires ensuring compliance with healthcare policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory standards. Coordination with nursing and paramedical staff is essential for efficient service delivery, along with maintaining precise medical records, reports, and healthcare data.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold an MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) along with an MCPS in Family Medicine or a relevant Post Graduate Diploma. A minimum of 5 to 8 years of clinical experience post-MBBS is required, with demonstrated expertise in managing common and chronic diseases. Experience in emergency and industrial trauma management—including burns, fractures, head injuries, and chemical exposure—is essential. Proven occupational health knowledge, including conducting periodic medical examinations, fitness-for-duty assessments, and workplace health surveillance, is necessary.

The ideal candidate will have healthcare leadership experience, including supervising multidisciplinary medical teams, and a strong background in cost control and healthcare operations management. Effective coordination with panel hospitals, consultants, laboratories, and government health authorities is expected. Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills in primary care and emergency management are critical, as is the ability to conduct OPD consultations, triage patients, and stabilize medical emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Competencies

Experience in corporate or industrial healthcare settings is preferred. Candidates should possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in SAP, electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and medical documentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for patient counseling and guidance. The ability to work under pressure while maintaining professional ethics and patient-centered care is vital. Familiarity with occupational health and workplace health monitoring, as well as the ability to conduct employee wellness programs and health awareness initiatives, will be advantageous.

PARCO is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply. The company is committed to fostering a supportive work environment designed to attract and nurture top talent. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an organization at the forefront of Pakistan’s energy sector while advancing your professional career in occupational and corporate healthcare. The position is based at PARCO’s Head Office in Karachi, with one vacancy available.
