PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Project aims to enhance immunization activities in high-risk union councils of selected districts through community engagement and strengthened service delivery, including primary healthcare and the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). The project focuses on deploying mobile health units, identifying zero-dose and defaulter children to improve vaccine coverage and reduce vaccine-preventable diseases in areas with low immunization rates. Collaborating with key stakeholders such as the EPI Program, health departments, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and local communities, the initiative emphasizes raising awareness, ensuring equitable vaccine delivery, and addressing immunization gaps to achieve sustainable health outcomes.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Manager will oversee and manage the implementation of the 'Improved Immunization through Community Engagement and Health System Strengthening' project across proposed Four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team, coordinating project activities, ensuring the immunization of target communities, effective delivery of mobile Primary Healthcare (PHC) services, and driving community engagement to increase immunization coverage, especially among zero-dose and under-immunized children. The Program Manager will work closely with the Project Manager KP, Director Programmes, SMT and key stakeholders including Districts and Provincial Government, EPI Directorate to ensure the project’s success, focusing on improving health system resilience, community acceptance, and overall immunization outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DESCRIPTION

1. Project Management & Coordination

  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of the project across four districts in KP.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of health professionals, EPI vaccinators, community mobilizers, and support staff.
  •  Ensure alignment of project activities with the overall project objectives, timelines, and budget.
  • Regularly coordinate with District health authorities, local stakeholders, and partners (WHO, UNICEF, etc.) to ensure project coherence.
  • Develop detailed work plans, monitor progress, and troubleshoot issues as they arise to maintain momentum.

2. Community Engagement & Demand Generation

  •  Lead community engagement strategies to enhance acceptance and demand for immunization, maternal health, and family planning services.
  • Collaborate with local community leaders, religious leaders, and other influencers to build trust and encourage participation in health programs.
  • Ensure the project’s outreach activities (mobile clinics, school-based programs, community health sessions) are well-coordinated and impactful.
  • Foster strong relationships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for effective community mobilization. 

3. Monitoring, Reporting, & Evaluation

  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes, ensuring data is accurately captured, analyzed, and reported to assess project outcomes and impact.
  •  Ensure regular reporting on project progress, challenges, and achievements to the Project Director and donors.
  • Conduct periodic assessments and ensure continuous improvement based on feedback and lessons learned.
  • Ensure that project activities comply with monitoring frameworks, donor requirements, and WHO guidelines.

4. Budget Management & Resource Allocation

  • Manage project resources effectively, including staff, materials, and budget.
  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of budgets for all activities in the assigned districts, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.
  • Ensure timely procurement and supply chain management to support the project’s PHC services and outreach activities

5.Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  •  Lead and motivate project teams across the four districts, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular training and capacity-building sessions for team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver quality PHC services.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, transparency, and accountability within the team.

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Represent the project in meetings with government authorities, donors, and partner organizations, advocating for the project’s goals and securing support.
  • Liaise with local government health officials to align project activities with local health priorities.
  • Coordinate with other health programs and projects to ensure synergy and avoid duplication of efforts.
