The Communications and Digital Support Officer is responsible for supporting programme communications through digital content development, stakeholder coordination, social media management, communication reporting, content planning, and partner engagement.
The position serves as the operational focal point for digital communications and communication coordination, ensuring programme information, field updates, content, and communication materials are effectively collected, packaged, disseminated, and reported.
The role will work closely with programme teams, district teams, implementing partners, media partners, and the AV & Multimedia Officer to support communication objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Digital Content Development:
- Develop concepts for social media and digital communication content.
- Design static graphics and digital communication materials.
- Create carousel posts, infographics and digital awareness materials.
- Adapt content for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, X and other approved platforms.
- Produce simple video edits and digital adaptations of AV content where required.
- Develop platform-specific content packages to support audience engagement.
- Ensure digital content aligns with programme priorities and approved messaging.
2. Social Media Management
- Develop and maintain social media content calendars.
- Coordinate content scheduling and publication.
- Draft social media captions and post copy.
- Manage content trackers and publishing schedules.
- Support implementation of digital campaigns and online engagement activities.
- Coordinate content approvals prior to publication.
- Monitor platform activity and audience engagement.
3. Communication Planning and Content Coordination
- Support implementation of communication plans and campaign communication activities.
- Maintain communication workplans and activity trackers.
- Coordinate with programme teams to identify communication opportunities.
- Coordinate collection of content and updates from districts and partners.
- Ensure communication deliverables are completed according to agreed timelines.
- Maintain a repository of communication materials and approved content.
4. Stakeholder and Partner Engagement
- Coordinate communication activities with district teams, implementing partners and EPI/PEI stakeholders.
- Support engagement with influencers, religious leaders, healthcare professionals, civil society organizations, schools and other partners.
- Facilitate collection of communication materials from partners and stakeholders.
- Support advocacy and visibility initiatives involving external partners.
- Coordinate requests for communication support from programme teams.
- Maintain stakeholder contact lists and communication databases.
5. Information Collection and Partner Reporting
- The Communications & Digital Support Officer will:
- Serve as the focal point for collecting communication-related inputs, updates and information from programme partners.
- Collect communication data, activity updates, success stories, case studies and campaign information from districts and implementing partners.
- Coordinate with programme focal persons, district teams and external partners to gather required communication information.
- Ensure information received is complete, verified and submitted within agreed timelines.
- Maintain records of communication activities and outputs received from partners.
- Follow up proactively on outstanding inputs, updates and reporting requirements.
6. Communication Reporting and Documentation
- Compile communication updates and activity summaries.
- Prepare monthly communication reports.
- Develop campaign communication summaries.
- Compile communication achievements and highlights.
- Draft briefing notes, updates and communication summaries.
- Maintain documentation of communication activities and outputs.
- Support development of lessons learned and success stories.
7. Content Development and Writing
- Draft human-interest stories and success stories.
- Draft stakeholder profiles and programme highlights.
- Draft video descriptions, captions and communication copy.
- Prepare messaging packages for campaigns and special activities.
- Support preparation of advocacy materials and communication products.
- Adapt technical information into audience-friendly communications products.
8. Monitoring and Digital Analytics
- Monitor performance of communication and digital activities.
- Track social media analytics and engagement trends.
- Identify high-performing content and communication opportunities.
- Support preparation of digital performance summaries.
- Monitor media and digital coverage relevant to programme activities.
9. Campaign Communication Support
Pre-Campaign
- Develop campaign content calendars.
- Coordinate stakeholder communication requirements.
- Compile communication materials and messaging packages.
- Prepare digital communication materials and content plans.
During Campaign
- Coordinate collection of field content and updates.
- Publish and manage approved digital content.
- Support communication reporting and daily updates.
- Coordinate communication inputs from districts and partners.
Post-Campaign
- Compile communication results and outputs.
- Prepare campaign communication summaries.
- Consolidate partner updates and reporting.
- Document lessons learned and communication achievements.
Required Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- With Bachelor’s degree, five years of relevant professional experience.
- With Advanced degree, three years of relevant professional experience.
