Job Overview:

  • The Nutrition Assistant will support the implementation of community-based nutrition programmes by conducting nutrition screening, anthropometric assessments, beneficiary registration, counselling, and follow-up in accordance with CMAM and IYCF guidelines. The role also includes maintaining programme records, managing nutrition supplies, facilitating community awareness sessions, and ensuring timely reporting to improve nutrition outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive the required trainings on the implementation of CMAM, community management of acute malnutrition and IYCF, Infant and Young Child Feeding.
  • Carry out anthropometric measurements of all target beneficiaries (children 6-59 months and Pregnant/Lactating Women) as per CMAM guidelines and maintain records of the measurements.
  • Register the identified severe and moderate acute malnourished children in OTP program as per CMAM National Guidelines and ensure follow-ups of the registered beneficiaries through LHWs or any other means.
  • Ensure that all women (pregnant/lactating) and Adolescent Girls attending the facility are properly educated on best practices of Infant and Young Child Feeding and properly counselled on breastfeeding and lactation management.
  • Maintain records of the nutrition supplies received from the district warehouse and keep records of all distribution completed on the stock registers.
  • Provide weekly/monthly data to the District Information Management/Logistics/Finance Officer for computerization/compilation and onward submission.
  • Regularly conduct Mother/Father Support Group Meetings at the Health Facility & Community Level.
  • Provision of authentic bills to the District Information Management/Logistics/Finance Officer.
  • Provision of Nutrition Supplements to the Beneficiaries (SAM Children and APLWs) as per Standard protocol and Criteria, strict adherence to the criteria and protocol is recommended by the Department of Health to avoid the misuse of these Nutrition Supplements.
  • Inform District Nutrition Manager/District IMO in case of selling of Nutrition Supplements if noticed at the health facility/Community level.
  • Continuously provide awareness to the local communities about the proper use of Nutrition Supplements.

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, Nursing or Allied Health Sciences or related field, or LHV qualification.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in the management of SAM, MAM, or CMAM programmes, including nutrition screening, treatment, referral, follow-up, and reporting. Experience working in government or development partner-supported nutrition programmes will be preferred. Preference will be given to local candidates from the respective project area/district, subject to merit.
