The Mid-Level IFRS role is a full-time, on-site position based in Karachi. This role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements and disclosures in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant regulatory requirements. The incumbent will interpret new and existing IFRS standards, support their implementation across various business units, and ensure consistent application of accounting policies. Collaboration with finance, treasury, and investment banking teams is essential to analyze complex transactions, evaluate accounting implications, and maintain accurate and timely financial reporting. Additional responsibilities include assisting with internal and external audits, preparing technical accounting documentation, and contributing to process improvements and documentation related to financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, notes, reconciliations, and supporting schedules in compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards.
- Interpret and implement new and existing IFRS standards across the organization to ensure consistent accounting practices.
- Collaborate with finance, treasury, and investment banking teams to analyze complex transactions and assess their accounting treatment.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Assist in internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and clarifications.
- Prepare technical accounting papers and memos to support accounting decisions and disclosures.
- Contribute to process improvements and maintain comprehensive documentation related to financial reporting activities.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting frameworks, and applicable banking or financial sector regulations.
- Proven experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements, notes, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ability to analyze complex financial transactions and develop clear, well-structured technical accounting memos.
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP software, advanced Excel skills, and experience working with large data sets.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work efficiently with cross-functional teams and auditors.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent, either completed or in advanced stages.
- Relevant mid-level experience in a financial institution, audit firm, or corporate finance environment.
