Mid-Level Java Developer

Join Telenor Shared Services Pakistan as a Mid-Level Java Developer based in Islamabad, working within the Finance and Procurement Services department. Reporting to the Director of Automation Hub, you will be part of a dynamic and inclusive technology environment focused on building scalable backend applications and services. Your role will involve designing, developing, testing, and maintaining Java-based microservices and APIs, contributing to solutions that support the broader organization. You will collaborate closely with architects, DevOps engineers, integration specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient microservices following approved architecture and coding standards.
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs and support system-to-system integrations.
- Write clean, reusable, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, query development, and performance optimization.
- Containerize applications using Docker and support deployment and operations in Kubernetes environments.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, release activities, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver solutions using Agile methodologies.
- Apply secure development practices and continuously improve application quality, reliability, and performance.
- Participate actively in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical discussions, and retrospectives.
- Maintain technical documentation, API specifications, deployment notes, and operational runbooks.
- Investigate application logs, alerts, incidents, and performance issues, implementing sustainable fixes.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience, with hands-on Java development in production environments. Equivalent practical experience with demonstrated capability will also be considered.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and RESTful API development.
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including containerization, configuration, deployment, and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL; exposure to NoSQL databases is advantageous.
- Experience developing or operating applications in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, OCI, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, CI/CD practices, automated testing, logging, and monitoring.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with enterprise integration or middleware projects, particularly involving API integration, asynchronous messaging, event-driven architectures, system-to-system data exchange, or enterprise integration platforms.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka and authentication standards is a plus.
- Proficiency in object-oriented design, design patterns, clean-code principles, and secure coding practices.
- Exposure to DevOps tools such as Maven or Gradle and observability platforms.
- Agile delivery mindset with a focus on ownership, customer orientation, and teamwork.
