Mid-Level Java Developer

We are seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer to join Telenor Shared Services Pakistan in Islamabad, reporting to the Director of Automation Hub within the Finance and Procurement Services department. In this role, you will work in a collaborative and inclusive international technology environment, designing and building scalable backend applications and services using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, databases, and cloud platforms. You will be responsible for delivering features independently throughout the software development lifecycle, collaborating with architects, DevOps engineers, integration specialists, and business stakeholders to create secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions. Experience with integration and middleware projects will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient microservices aligned with approved architecture and coding standards.
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs and support system-to-system integrations.
- Write clean, reusable, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, query development, and performance optimization.
- Containerize applications using Docker and support deployment and operations in Kubernetes environments.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, release activities, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver solutions using Agile practices.
- Apply secure development practices and continuously improve application quality, reliability, and performance.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience, including hands-on Java development in production environments. Candidates with comparable practical experience and demonstrated capability may also be considered.
- Practical experience with Spring Boot and the development of RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including containerization, configuration, deployment, and basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL; exposure to NoSQL databases is beneficial.
- Experience developing or operating applications in a cloud environment such as Azure, AWS, OCI, or GCP.
- Understanding of Git-based development, CI/CD practices, automated testing, logging, and monitoring.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with enterprise integration or middleware projects, particularly in API integration, asynchronous messaging, event-driven solutions, system-to-system data exchange, or enterprise integration platforms.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka, authentication standards, and integration patterns is preferred.
- Familiarity with unit and integration testing, debugging, performance tuning, secure coding, and code-review practices.
- Agile delivery mindset with ownership, customer focus, teamwork, and the ability to communicate technical topics clearly.

This role offers a dynamic work environment where you will participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. Additionally, you will investigate application logs, resolve incidents, maintain technical documentation, and coordinate with various teams to deliver agreed outcomes.
