Across Clocks is seeking an experienced Revit drafter to join a Southern California residential design and engineering team on a full-time remote basis. The primary responsibility is to develop and update construction documents based on established designs and Revit models. Projects mainly involve home additions, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and other small-scale residential improvements. The role requires working with existing templates, reference drawing sets, and a defined team workflow. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of wood-frame construction, proficiency in Revit, and the ability to independently manage production tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop residential construction drawing sets using supplied Revit models, templates, and reference plans.
- Prepare and update annotations, tags, construction notes, and details to maintain consistency across the drawing set.
- Revise plans based on internal feedback and city plan-check corrections.
- Utilize appropriate Revit families and apply practical knowledge of wood-frame assemblies when creating drawings.
- Coordinate work and handoffs with project managers, designers, structural engineers, and permitting teams.
- Manage multiple small projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional skills in Revit production, particularly in construction documentation, annotations, detailing, and drawing revisions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with wood-frame residential construction and its technical representation in drawings.
- Practical understanding of floor assemblies, foundations and stem walls, engineered floor joists, roof overhangs, and ventilation systems.
- Ability to produce coordinated construction drawing packages using existing models, templates, and reference sets with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of basic U.S. residential building codes and the ability to apply relevant documentation standards.
- Resourcefulness and sound technical judgment, including problem recognition, routine issue resolution, and knowing when to escalate questions.
- Capability to maintain accuracy while working at a steady production pace and communicate effectively within a remote team environment.
- Availability for full-time work, approximately 160 hours per month, with at least a couple of hours of daily overlap with the Los Angeles team; the exact overlap schedule will be agreed upon with the team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing residential permit drawing sets for California projects.
- Familiarity with addressing city plan-check corrections on U.S. residential projects.
- Background in structural engineering related to wood-frame residential construction.
Working Environment
The team operates with established Revit templates and project handoff procedures. Training will be provided on internal workflows, project tracking, reporting, and communication practices. Candidates should already be comfortable with Revit production and have a foundational understanding of wood-frame construction. The team currently works primarily in Revit 2023 and is in the process of transitioning to newer versions.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their CV along with relevant residential construction drawing samples where possible. Please clearly indicate the work you personally completed, the software used, and your role in any revisions or permit documentation.
