MMSJ International is seeking an experienced Geologist to join our dynamic team and lead geological projects essential to our mineral exploration and mining operations. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology, Mining Geology, or a related field, with at least five years of hands-on experience in mineral exploration or mining environments. This role requires strong expertise in geological mapping, mineral identification, and analysis techniques combined with a solid understanding of hydrogeology and spatial data interpretation. The Geologist will manage a large team of 100 professionals, coordinating efforts to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency across multiple exploration and mining sites.
The successful candidate will be proactive in applying advanced geological methods and technologies such as petrographic microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis to deliver comprehensive data support for exploration strategies. Regular travel to field locations is an essential part of this role to oversee sampling, data collection, and onsite assessments. The candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership skills, guiding and mentoring team members to maintain high-quality standards in service delivery and technical outputs in alignment with company goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and management of geological projects focusing on mineral exploration and mining activities.
- Manage a large multidisciplinary team of geologists, technicians, and support staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Conduct detailed geological mapping and mineral identification to support exploration initiatives.
- Perform petrographic analysis and mineralogical studies using petrographic microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques.
- Collect field data accurately using standard geological fieldwork practices and advanced spatial analysis tools.
- Analyze geological samples to determine mineral phases and their properties relevant to resource evaluation.
- Interpret and integrate hydrogeological data to assess groundwater impact and mining site sustainability.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other spatial analysis software to map geological features and aid in decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards during all field operations.
- Travel regularly to exploration and mining sites to supervise geological surveys and verify field data integrity.
- Collaborate with other departments including mining engineering and environmental science to optimize resource extraction processes.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations to communicate findings, project status, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Mentor and train team members to enhance skills in geological techniques, safety practices, and data analysis.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in geology and exploration technology to continuously improve operational methodologies.
