NERQA LLC is a U.S.-based company building a modern, software-enabled estimating service for commercial HVAC and mechanical subcontractors across the United States.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Commercial HVAC Estimator / Estimating Lead to lead estimating activities for U.S. commercial HVAC and mechanical projects.

This is a 100% FULL REMOTE role from day one. The position will begin as a full-time independent contractor / freelance relationship, with the intention to transition the right candidate into a permanent full-time internal role after successful validation of the collaboration.

The right candidate will do more than produce takeoffs. You will help NERQA review projects, organize estimating work, supervise other estimators, perform QA, review material and labor costing, manage vendor quotations, and support the preparation of complete bid-ready estimates.

Direct experience estimating commercial HVAC projects for U.S. HVAC or mechanical contractors is required.

This is not a Quantity Surveyor, Site Engineer, HVAC design-only, or general construction estimator role.

We are looking for an individual professional who can become a long-term technical leader inside NERQA. Agencies and outsourcing companies are not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of approximately three estimators.

• Review U.S. commercial HVAC bid packages, mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, addenda and bid instructions.

• Define project scope, inclusions, exclusions, assumptions and technical risks before estimating begins.

• Perform and supervise detailed HVAC quantity takeoffs.

• Review ductwork, equipment, piping, insulation, accessories, supports and related HVAC scope.

• Review material quantities, material pricing, labor hours, labor costing and vendor/subcontractor quotations.

• Prepare or review estimating spreadsheets, pricing summaries and bid-support documents.

• Identify missing scope, drawing conflicts, unusual quantities and potential RFIs.

• Review and validate estimates prepared by other estimators before submission.

• Perform QA using a risk-based review process without unnecessarily redoing the entire takeoff.

• Assign work based on project complexity, deadlines and estimator capability.

• Provide clear technical corrections, feedback and guidance to team members.

• Support bid preparation and complete bid-ready estimating deliverables.

• Participate in value engineering when appropriate.

• Help NERQA improve estimating checklists, QA rules, documentation standards and estimating procedures.

• Communicate workload, project risks and deadline concerns clearly to NERQA Operations.
