ACE Money Transfer, a UK-based multinational headquartered in Manchester, provides online remittance services across 29 countries, enabling customers in the UK, Europe, Canada, and Australia to send money to over 100 countries worldwide. We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team, responsible for designing, maintaining, and supporting our global network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient connectivity across all company sites.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Documentation:
Design, maintain, and regularly update comprehensive network diagrams including LAN/WAN topology, IP addressing schemes, and VLAN structures for all locations. Maintain detailed documentation for switch configurations, SSIDs, access point layouts, firewall rules, and routing tables. Plan and document network expansions for new offices, covering cabling layouts, rack elevations, and device placement.
Firewall & Perimeter Security:
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, including rules, NAT, VPN tunnels, VLANs, and WAF policies across all sites. Monitor firewall health, throughput, and security logs, responding promptly to incidents. Implement and manage site-to-site and remote-access VPNs to ensure secure connectivity.
Switching & Wireless Infrastructure:
Manage and configure managed switches with VLAN segmentation, trunking, port security, spanning tree, and link aggregation. Deploy, monitor, and optimize wireless access points (such as UniFi or equivalent) to maximize coverage, uptime, and performance. Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity, routing, and Wi-Fi issues end-to-end.
Datacenter & Infrastructure Management:
Oversee datacenter operations including rack organization, cabling standards, power management (UPS/PDU), cooling, and physical access control. Monitor availability of servers, switches, and network devices, performing routine health checks. Execute daily backups according to policy, promptly addressing any failures. Maintain accurate inventory of network and server room hardware, including asset tagging and lifecycle tracking.
Network Support & Escalations:
Resolve network support tickets within defined SLA and priority timelines. Provide advanced troubleshooting beyond first-line support for connectivity, routing, switching, wireless, and firewall issues. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for escalations, hardware replacements, and circuit or ISP-related matters.
Risk, Security & Compliance:
Deploy critical patches and firmware updates on network devices within defined MTTP targets. Conduct periodic access reviews for VPN, network devices, and remote access, removing inactive or unauthorized entries. Support IT security audits and compliance reporting related to network infrastructure.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Networking, or related field.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience specifically in network engineering, with strong expertise in firewall administration, switching, and wireless infrastructure.
- Proven ability to create and maintain professional network diagrams using tools such as Visio or Draw.io.
- Practical experience managing server rooms, including rack setup, structured cabling, power redundancy, and cooling.
- Strong working knowledge of firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Sophos, or similar UTM platforms), managed switches, and enterprise-grade wireless access points (UniFi or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of routing and switching fundamentals including VLANs, STP, OSPF/static routing, and link aggregation.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent are highly desirable. Experience with VPN configuration, network monitoring tools, and adherence to structured and physical cabling standards is a plus.
