Network & Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Network & Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Islamabad/Rawalpindi on a full-time, hybrid work model aligned with USA time zones. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining cloud environments, network infrastructure, servers, and virtualization platforms. This role requires hands-on experience with both AWS and on-premise systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve connectivity and infrastructure issues remotely. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with servers and network devices, ensuring reliable and secure infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure components such as EC2 instances, VPCs, security groups, and networking services.
- Configure and resolve issues related to network routing, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and overall connectivity.
- Set up and maintain VPNs, IP tunnels, and IPsec connections to ensure secure communication channels.
- Administer pfSense firewalls, including firewall rules, routing, NAT, and VPN configurations.
- Manage Linux and Windows servers, addressing server-level problems efficiently.
- Work with XCP-ng hypervisor and manage virtual machines within the environment.
- Remotely access servers and network devices to diagnose and fix infrastructure issues.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and connectivity to maintain system reliability.
- Troubleshoot problems involving network, server, firewall, VPN, and virtualization technologies.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and ensure all configurations are well documented.
- Support infrastructure security measures, backups, access controls, and system reliability initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with software engineering and other technical teams to provide infrastructure support when needed.

Required Qualifications

- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP protocols.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and networking services.
- Proven experience configuring and managing VPNs and IPsec connections.
- Practical knowledge of pfSense or similar firewall/router platforms.
- Experience managing Linux servers; familiarity with Windows Server is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms, preferably XCP-ng or equivalent technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working remotely with servers, network devices, and infrastructure components.
- Ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective, practical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Advanced Networking are highly desirable.
- Experience with XCP-ng/Xen Orchestra management tools.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools to track infrastructure health.
- Experience in cloud-to-on-premise networking integration.
- Knowledge of infrastructure security best practices and hardening techniques.
- Skills in automation or scripting using Bash or Python to streamline operations.
