A reputable IT solutions provider in Pakistan with over 40 years of industry presence and a workforce exceeding 500 employees is seeking a Monitoring Solution Specialist to join their Islamabad office on an onsite basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and managing advanced monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance and availability of applications, infrastructure, and networks across on-premises and cloud environments. This role requires hands-on experience with leading monitoring platforms and a proactive approach to incident management and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring Solution Deployment and Configuration: Design, implement, and configure monitoring solutions such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Datadog, Splunk, and SolarWinds. Set up monitoring agents, data collection, and alerting systems for critical IT assets both on-premises and in cloud environments. Integrate these monitoring tools with existing IT operations platforms, including ITSM, ticketing, and incident management systems, to automate alerting and incident response workflows.
System and Application Monitoring: Develop comprehensive monitoring strategies covering all IT layers including applications, hardware, operating systems, databases, and networks. Ensure key performance metrics such as system uptime, transaction latency, resource utilization, and error rates are accurately captured. Monitor diverse environments including on-premises infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
Alerting and Incident Management: Design alerting mechanisms based on KPIs and thresholds to promptly notify stakeholders of potential issues. Investigate and troubleshoot monitoring-related incidents to minimize downtime and performance degradation. Collaborate closely with operations, development, and support teams to resolve issues and enhance monitoring effectiveness.
Data Analytics and Reporting: Collect and analyze monitoring data to identify trends, risks, and performance bottlenecks. Create custom dashboards and reports that visualize system health, availability, and incident trends. Provide actionable insights to improve system reliability and optimize resource allocation.
Continuous Improvement and Automation: Regularly evaluate and enhance monitoring coverage to include new systems and technologies. Automate monitoring tasks such as alert escalation, ticket creation, and issue resolution. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging monitoring tools to continuously improve monitoring capabilities.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support: Work collaboratively with infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to ensure comprehensive visibility across the IT ecosystem. Provide training and support to internal teams on interpreting monitoring data and responding to alerts. Serve as a subject matter expert for monitoring systems, offering guidance on configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain detailed documentation of monitoring configurations, workflows, and processes. Develop and update a knowledge base of common issues and resolutions to streamline incident management.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience deploying, configuring, and managing monitoring solutions such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Datadog, Splunk, or SolarWinds.
- Hands-on expertise monitoring applications, systems, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), and containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience integrating automated monitoring and incident response workflows with ITSM or ticketing systems.
- Familiarity with application and infrastructure monitoring, including networks, servers, and storage systems.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong communication skills.
- 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
