Network Security Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other network security tools to protect organizational assets.
- Monitor network traffic continuously to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and anomalies.
- Implement encryption protocols and enforce secure access controls across systems.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, VPN, routing, switching, and load balancing.
- Manage enterprise firewalls and network security appliances with hands-on expertise.
- Execute network segmentation strategies, including VLANs, routing, and access control measures.
- Maintain a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices to safeguard infrastructure.
- Secure both Linux and Windows operating environments effectively.
- Utilize familiarity with Kubernetes security to enhance containerized application protection (highly desirable).
- Work with cloud networking and security frameworks to support hybrid and cloud environments.
- Conduct security monitoring, logging, and incident response activities to mitigate risks promptly.
- Employ Git and infrastructure/configuration management tools to maintain system integrity.
- Troubleshoot and analyze network security issues with strong problem-solving skills.
- Provide help desk support to end-users, ensuring timely resolution of security-related concerns.
- Manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems to enforce security policies on mobile endpoints.
- Ensure all network security practices comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
- Perform regular risk assessments and audits to identify and address compliance gaps.
- Develop and enforce policies for the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in network security.
- Proven expertise in network administration and engineering, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Strong background in network security and cybersecurity, with hands-on experience implementing security controls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure network design.
- Comprehensive understanding of information security principles such as access control, encryption, secure protocols, and risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
