Applications Engineer

In direct collaboration with sales, this position is responsible for the proper quoting of projects, ensuring that proposals and bids are completed accurately and on time. A major component of this position involves ensuring and implementing best business practices for designing engineering solutions.

Duties and responsibilities include:

· Prepare equipment & system proposals as required by Sales

· Co-ordinating with customers to design and propose concepts for the customer which align with market trends and promote development of standard product lines.

· Prepare accurate cost estimations for proposals

· Administering engineering activities of projects right from conceptualization to implementation

· Ability to analyze customer needs and make recommendations to the engineering team accordingly in a timely & professional manner

· Co-ordinate with all departments, the sales agent and the customer, to ensure quotes are available on time, are complete, accurate and of a high quality

· As necessary, represent the company with the sales agents and customers, to close orders, answer technical questions, and provide the appropriate packaging solution

· Provide input into and maintain databases (customer/market/competitor intelligence)

· Provide recommendations to optimize and innovate products based on industry needs and client feedback

The ideal candidate should have:

· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quoting of engineering of highly engineered capital equipment

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with solid understanding of designing engineering solutions (Industry specific experience would be an asset)

· Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to travel for work e.g. to client’s site

· Possessing knowledge of software and technical skills specific to job

· Demonstrating project management abilities

· Developing strong quantitative skills

· Collaborating across interdisciplinary teams

· Ability to prioritize demands in a fast-paced work environment

· Strong leadership skills including building strong relationships

· Strong communication skills (verbal and written; strong listening skills)

· Strong judgement, analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions

· Good level of computer skills (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD)
