Position Summary: Providing nursing, maternity & neonatal care, treatment and follow-up of patients in assigned wards (birthing/delivery unit, New Born Unit (NBU), ER, Triage, ANC, PNC, IPD, etc.) according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service, and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess Patients - Conduct physical assessments, monitor vital signs, and evaluate the overall health of patients.
  • Administer Medications - Prepare and administer medications, ensuring correct dosages and routes for neonates and children of different age groups.
  • Perform Procedures - Perform minor medical procedures such as drawing blood, inserting IVs, inserting NG/OG tubes, and participating in patient resuscitation.
  • Provide information and guidance to parents and caregivers regarding medical conditions, treatments, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records—including assessments, interventions, and responses to treatments—in the nursing notes by following the Nursing Care Plan (NCP).
  • Join medical rounds to discuss patient progress and treatment plans with the Medical Doctor (MD).
  • Ensure that medical supplies and equipment are available, properly maintained, and well-organized; inform the ward supervisor immediately if items are unavailable or malfunctioning.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training sessions to stay current with neonatal/pediatric nursing practices and advancements in child healthcare.
  • Monitor and mentor Nurse Aide/Companion (NCP) activities and procedures, providing guidance and reporting any identified errors to the supervisor.
  • Implement and maintain standard and transmission-based precautions to prevent cross-infection.
  • Educate and guide parents/attendants on infection prevention measures (e.g., handwashing, mask usage, and restricted contact).
  • Ensure proper disinfection and sterilization of equipment and isolation rooms.
  • Coordinate with the infection control supervisor for the surveillance and reporting of infectious diseases.
  • Provide emotional support to children and their families during nursing care.

Language: Proficiency in English and Urdu is essential; knowledge of any other local language is an asset and desirable.
