We are seeking a skilled Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer with comprehensive experience in cloud architecture, landing zone design, and network security. This remote, project-based contract role requires a hands-on professional capable of designing and deploying secure, scalable OCI environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in OCI networking, including firewalls and Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), with a focus on high availability, resilience, and failover strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess project requirements and develop end-to-end OCI architecture and deployment plans.
- Build OCI landing zones encompassing tenancy structure, compartments, IAM policies, tagging, and governance frameworks.
- Design and implement networking components such as VCNs, subnets, routing, DRGs, security lists, Network Security Groups, and network segmentation.
- Deploy and configure firewalls (OCI-native or third-party like Palo Alto and Fortigate), WAFs, load balancers, and other security controls.
- Architect and implement high availability (HA) and failover mechanisms for network and security components, considering service-specific capabilities.
- Establish secure traffic flows for internet-facing applications, internal workloads, and hybrid connectivity with on-premises environments.
- Configure logging, monitoring, audit visibility, and operational alerts to ensure ongoing security and compliance.
- Conduct thorough testing to validate connectivity, security policies, traffic inspection, and failover functionality.
- Deliver comprehensive architecture diagrams, deployment documentation, operating procedures, and facilitate knowledge transfer to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong architectural knowledge across OCI networking, compute, storage, identity, security, and governance services.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and deploying OCI landing zones from initial requirements through to production handover.
- Expertise with OCI networking components including VCNs, subnets, routing, DRGs, security lists, Network Security Groups, and network segmentation.
- Experience deploying and managing OCI-native or third-party firewalls such as Palo Alto and Fortigate, with capabilities in HA, traffic inspection, routing, and failover.
- Skilled in implementing WAF protection and securing application ingress.
- Solid understanding of hybrid connectivity options including VPN and FastConnect.
- Ability to translate complex business, security, and availability requirements into robust cloud architectures.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to own the full lifecycle of implementation, from design through deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and handover.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Oracle Cloud Certification is preferred, demonstrating validated expertise in OCI.
- Opportunity to work remotely on a dynamic, project-based contract with exposure to cutting-edge cloud security and architecture challenges.
- Engage in meaningful projects that require end-to-end ownership and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Candidates are encouraged to highlight their experience with OCI landing zone projects, firewall and WAF deployments, and high availability design. Please detail the security products you have worked with and your specific role in delivering those solutions. This position demands an engineer who can confidently manage the entire implementation process and deliver secure, resilient OCI environments.
If you have strong OCI architecture and network security experience and are ready to take ownership of complex cloud projects, this role offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills in a remote, contract setting.
