Our client, a progressive firm of Chartered Accountants in the UK are looking for an experienced bookkeeper.
You will be responsible for a portfolio of clients including limited companies and sole traders.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- General bookkeeping duties, mainly using Xero cloud accounting software.
- Management and reconciliation of bank accounts, cash and credit card statements.
- Preparing VAT returns and reporting to HMRC.
- Resolving bookkeeping queries and liaising directly with clients.
- Preparing month end journals.
- Assisting the payroll team at peak times during the year.
- Assisting with the preparation of data to support annual tax returns.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have at least 3 years of bookkeeping in practice or industry and be comfortable dealing directly with clients. The following skills and experience are required:
- Thorough knowledge of Xero and Receipt Bank processes (Xero Advisor accreditation is essential).
- Good knowledge of VAT (essential).
- Payroll knowledge (essential) (the practice uses BrightPay payroll bureau software).
- CIS administration (preferred).
- Level 4 AAT qualification (preferred).
- Ability to work to month end deadlines (essential).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision (essential).
- Knowledge of other cloud and desk top accounting software would be an advantage.
This role is full time (37.5 hours per week) working to UK hours.
