Orenda is a social startup working on improving the standard of education in the country. We have developed and deployed what we call the 'Virtual Education Program'. Our e-learning program tackles the problem of excessive attrition rates by using high quality 'animated' video lessons (basically cartoons) that are streamed over the internet to screens installed in either government schools, or low cost private schools. These videos not only educate our students, but train the teachers in the school as well.This approach (more on this here) has worked tremendously well; our students are excited to come to school in the morning, and talk about it till late in the evening. Since they are interested and engaged at school, their performances have improved drastically inside only a few months.
The Junction is our recently created research lab, where all of our new ideas are born and are pressure tested, before they are implemented. Now that we are expanding and taking our product to a larger number of students, we are looking for interns to bring on fresh ideas on how to spread our program, and be a part of designing an innovative approach to a prexisting problem. Those who do join will have the opportunity to witness the complete cycle from ideation, to development, to rapid prototyping, and the final delivery of a product that could improve the lives of thousands of children.
