About the role:

Livelihood Officer will be responsible for implementing and managing programs and initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods and economic development within communities. His/her main

objective will be to improve the standard of living and income-generating opportunities for individuals and communities, particularly those in disadvantaged or marginalized situations.

About the Project:

The project aims to provide integrated services in health, nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and livelihood to the flood-affected communities of Umerkot and Khairpur Sindh-Pakistan.

The project idea is designed within the framework of localization to restore mentioned services and strengthen local capacities, taking a holistic approach and considering the protracted nature of the crisis situation. The staff will be based in their respective districts to implement the project activities.

Your impactful goals will include:

  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to identify target populations and understand their needs, and designing livelihood programs or projects accordingly. This involves conducting assessments, research, and analysis to inform program design.
  • Overseeing the implementation of livelihood programs, including coordinating activities, managing resources, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints. This may involve providing technical guidance to field staff.
  • Identifying training needs and organizing capacity-building sessions for program participants or beneficiaries. This could include providing training on entrepreneurship, business management, vocational skills, financial literacy, market analysis, or any other relevant topics.
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the progress and impact of livelihood programs. Collecting data, analyzing results, and preparing reports to assess the effectiveness of interventions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with local communities, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other relevant partners to foster partnerships, promote coordination, and leverage additional resources or support for livelihood programs.
  • Identifying and mobilizing resources, such as grants, funding opportunities, or partnerships, to sustain and expand livelihood initiatives. This may involve writing project proposals, seeking funding from donors, or engaging in fundraising activities. 
  • Staying updated on emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches in the field of livelihood development. Conducting research and analysis to identify new opportunities or strategies for promoting sustainable livelihoods.
  • Advocating for policies and practices that promote inclusive and sustainable livelihoods. Collaborating with policymakers, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders to contribute to the development of favorable policies or frameworks.

What we are looking for:

Education & Knowledge:

Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, rural development, community development, economics, or agriculture. A degree in a field related to livelihoods, sustainable development, or poverty reduction is often preferred.

Work Experience:

3 – 4 years of demonstrated experience in INGO/NGO in designing, implementing, and managing livelihood development projects.
