Program Background Summary: Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is five years USAID funded project starting June 2013 with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The goal will be supported by three interrelated components including improved classroom learning environment for reading, improve policies and systems for reading and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The anticipated results include 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading,3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed (Hons) students, mobile bus libraries reaching out to 300 communities.
Job Overview/Summary
Major Responsibilities:
· The pre-service & scholarship manager will be responsible to:
· Implement pre-service teacher education activities in the province/region
· Actively participate in the development of reading instruction curricula and coordinate with the TTI faculty in this process
· Regularly liaise with TTI faculty to ensure the accomplishment of assigned task in due time
· Facilitate professional development session for the TTI faculty to implement ADE and B.Ed (Hons.) programs effectively
· Disburse ADE and B.Ed (Hons.) scholarships to the selected students in province/region
· Hold regular mentoring session in coordination with TTI faculty for scholarship recipients
· Collect evidences and data from the field regarding professional development of TTI faculty and scholarship activities in line with project M&E system
· Update scholarship data base regularly
· Work in close collaboration and hold regular meetings with provincial/district level project staff and government counter parts to implement pre-service and scholarship program effectively.

The USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project, implemented by the International Rescue Committee and its partners (Creative Associates International, World Learning, and Institute of Rural Management), is a seven-year project (2013-2020) with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of 1.3 million children in grades one and two. The project will achieve this goal through three distinct but interrelated components that will work in synergy to affect the quality of early grade education: Improved classroom learning environment for reading, Improved policies and systems for reading, and Improved community based support for reading in Pakistan.
