  • Participate in the smooth functioning of health facility; propose constructive changes, identify non-conformities, and propose corrective actions to develop the facility management system.
  • Provision of basic obstetric and newborn care.
  • Identification of high-risk pregnancies and proceeds to timely referral if needed based on Organizational protocols in place.
  • Ensuring the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical and neonatal care and if needed post abortion care.
  • Perform nutritional screening of children between 6-59 months and PLW by MUAC standards and refer the malnourished children and PLW to nearest nutrition rehabilitation center.
  • Follow up referred malnourished children and PLW and ensure their enrolment and adherence until criteria for discharge is fulfilled at nutrition rehabilitation center/programme.
  • Perform counseling to mothers and caretakers of malnourished children on early initiation of breast feeding, exclusive breast feeding, complementary feeding up to 24 months after delivery.
  • Perform triage of patients at BHU
  • Perform screening of patients for COVID-19 and ensure SOPs are strictly adhered to.
  • Managing patient workflow starting with registration of patient, maintaining patient files/cards.
  • Take vital signs and perform dressing for minor wounds/injuries,
  • Perform disinfection and sterilization of the medical instruments including autoclaving according to WHO standards.
  • Conduct health education on topics defined by medical officer in charge.
  • Perform basic rapid laboratory tests.
  • Perform consultation in the absence of the doctor and in conformity with Organizational guidelines and protocols.
  • Issue medical prescriptions in the absence of medical officer and in conformity with Organizational guidelines and protocols.
  • Close working relationship with the medical officer of MoH.
  • Provide family planning counseling services.
  • Participate in the daily/weekly patient data entry into OPD register and medicines tally sheet.
  • Provide medicine consumption reports.
  • Compile morbidity data and generate reports on medical statistics and share with medical officer in charge.
  • Supervise and train Dais, if required.
  • Ensure segregation and safe disposal of medical waste for incineration.
  • Ensure patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Work closely with the BHU MO/FMO and dispenser to ensure regular supply of medicines, supplies and consumable required for preventive MNCH services.
  • Ensure Rational Use of Medicines.
  • LHV shall be held accountable in lack of transparency in prescriptions, misuse of medicines and/or unauthorized use of medical items for personal use.
