We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Officer to oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for U.S.-based employees and contractors. This role requires ensuring full compliance with federal and state payroll regulations while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all payroll-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process U.S. payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
- Verify all payroll inputs including salaries, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and reimbursements.
- Manage payroll changes related to new hires, terminations, and final settlements.
- Process and reconcile federal, state, and local payroll taxes and deductions.
- Assist with preparation and filing of W-2, 1099, W-4, Form 941, and year-end payroll activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
- Reconcile payroll reports and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and collaborate with HR, Finance, and payroll vendors as needed.
- Stay current with U.S. payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience managing U.S. payroll.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
- Experience with payroll or HRIS systems such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks, UKG, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Excel with strong numerical, analytical, and reconciliation skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification such as FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
