A non for profit organization engaged in support of vulnerable communities through its programmes for Orphan kind, Thirst Relief, Emergency Response, Healthcare and Feed Our World in various areas all over the country. Organization requires services of “Protection and Safeguarding Manager”, duties of that position could be as under but not limited to these:

 

  1. Ensure Penny Appeal’s (PA) protection policies and procedures are kept up to date, incorporate safeguarding best practices, and comply with government and legislative requirements;
  2. Map the legal, social welfare child and adult at risk protection arrangements in Pakistan where we have a humanitarian or developmental programme operation;
  3. Ensure PA’s protection policies and procedures are kept up to date, incorporate safeguarding best practices, and comply with government and legislative requirements;
  4. Devise and deliver bespoke training to Pakistan offices or partner groups in context of local environment, legislation and appropriate practice;
  5. Lead program level community of practice for safeguarding and protection to coordinate learning about protection and safeguarding;
  6. Identify appropriate reporting and responses for incidents or concerns that fit within the local systems for dealing with reports of abuse involving children, adults at risk or PA service users;
  7. Provide guidelines to Implementing Partners on protection and safeguarding;
  8. Ensure the implementation of protection and safeguarding policy at all levels;
  9. Identify an implementation plan detailing the protection of children or adults at risk measures to be developed and implemented;
  10. Create a ‘risk register’ for all activities involving children and adults at risk, for Pakistan offices or partner groups. Ensure adequate process and systems at Head Office;
  11. Create safer recruitment and engagement practices that ensures all staff and consultants recruited are suitable to work with children and adults at risk and commit to the organisations’ protection policies;
  12. Ensure clear processes are in place that provide step-by-step guidance on how to report in each location and appropriate mechanisms for the management of each case;
  13. Set up ‘Safeguarding Working Groups’ to lead and manage all safeguarding matters;
  14. Ensure safeguarding is a feature of all key aspects of all projects and interventions;
  15. Undertake regular audits to check processes are being followed and up to date, and that there is appropriate resource-allocation to ensure compliance;
  16. Work closely with the Programmes Management team in ensuring any concerns are appropriately managed and make recommendations on all safeguarding matters;
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Management in the interest of the organization’s objectives. 

 

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Substantial knowledge, experience and skills of safeguarding and compliance regulation, with application within an international programmes context;
  • Skilled in designing, facilitating and evaluating Safeguarding and compliance training in different cultural and organisational contexts;
  • Knowledge of incident investigation, analytical skills and how to improve policy and practice in the light of findings;
  • Strong coordination and proactive leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and support staff;
  • Ability to accurately and systematically assess and evaluate environments, with an eye for detail;
  • Able to spot inconsistencies and potential threats and develop solutions and tools to improve risk assessments;
  • Able to process and articulate complexity in a clear and coherent way;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate and form effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Demonstrates patience, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to culturally diverse environments;
  • Willingness and ability work unsociable hours, including evenings when required;
  • To have a willingness to partake on appropriate training as required;
  • Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time, often to insecure places.

 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a field related to humanitarian assistance and international development;
  • Demonstrable experience in the application of Safeguarding and Compliance technical advice;
  • Experienced in developing and implementing safeguarding and compliance policies and processes for the delivery of high quality standards;
  • Substantial experience of working with children and families in international development and humanitarian settings.
