The Pharmacy Technician at Citizen Society – Kharian plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to patients, strictly following medical prescriptions. This position supports clinical staff by providing clear guidance on medication use while managing inventory through digital tracking and stock optimization. The technician contributes to the smooth operation of the dispensary by maintaining ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and adherence to organizational healthcare guidelines. This part-time role reports directly to the Clinic Physician or Administrator and is integral to delivering quality healthcare services within the community.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Dispensing & Patient Care:
Dispense medications accurately according to physician prescriptions, verifying drug name, strength, dosage, and quantity. Provide patients with clear instructions on medication administration, including dosage intervals, storage, and possible side effects. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and ethical dispensing practices. Collaborate closely with the physician to support daily clinic operations and address urgent pharmaceutical needs.
Inventory Management & Stock Optimization:
Monitor medication inventory regularly to prevent shortages and avoid stockouts. Work with the physician to analyze consumption trends and prepare monthly medicine demand forecasts. Coordinate with administrative staff to place timely replenishment orders, verify deliveries against invoices, and ensure correct stock quantities before storage. Identify and quarantine expired or damaged medications, report these to management, and follow approved disposal procedures. Maintain optimal storage conditions, including temperature control and security measures, while ensuring cleanliness, organization, and accurate labeling within the dispensary.
Digital Record-Keeping & Reporting:
Enter patient prescriptions, diagnoses, and dispensed items into the organization’s database promptly and accurately. Maintain comprehensive physical and digital records for daily operations, batch tracking, and inventory logs. Generate periodic consumption and inventory reports for management review. Ensure all documentation complies with organizational archiving and data policies.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Diploma in Pharmacy (Category B / Dispenser certification) or equivalent clinical training from a recognized institution is highly preferred.
Experience:
1–2 years of hands-on experience managing pharmacy operations, community clinics, or retail pharmacy settings. Experience within community health projects or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is strongly valued.
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, contraindications, and prescription analysis. Proficiency in data entry and familiarity with healthcare software or Microsoft Excel.
