We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Blood Donor Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting donor pre-screening, performing physical examinations, and collecting blood samples in accordance with established protocols. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to counsel donors effectively, as well as technical expertise in phlebotomy and sample handling to ensure safety and accuracy throughout the donation process.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct pre-selection donor counseling and obtain detailed donor history to assess eligibility.
- Perform physical examinations of blood donors, including measuring pulse, blood pressure, temperature, weight, and hemoglobin levels using portable devices such as the HemoCue haemoglobinometer.
- Obtain informed consent from donors and assign unique donor identification numbers to maintain accurate records.
- Select appropriate venipuncture sites and carry out phlebotomy procedures safely and efficiently.
- Collect and process blood samples following standard operating procedures to ensure sample integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience in phlebotomy or a related clinical role involving blood collection.
- Knowledge of donor screening protocols and ability to perform physical assessments accurately.
- Familiarity with using portable haemoglobinometers and other diagnostic tools.
- Strong communication skills to effectively counsel donors and explain procedures.
- Ability to maintain meticulous records and adhere to confidentiality guidelines.
- Certification or training in phlebotomy and basic life support is preferred.
