(PnP) VP Engineering

You will lead the engineering standards and craft excellence for our Product and Platform teams from Hyderabad, serving as the senior leader for our India superhub. Your role is to define what “good” means in software development, uphold these standards across teams, and position Hyderabad as a benchmark for talent density, technical judgment, and delivery discipline within the broader Engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish and enforce global engineering practices and Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, determining what is released, what is blocked, and how quality and predictability are measured across product teams.
- Serve as the guiding force for the Hyderabad superhub by elevating hiring standards, enhancing performance expectations, and cultivating a strong presence of senior-level talent (Staff+), making the hub a recognized example of craft and accountability.
- Own and collaborate on the engineering career framework and learning pathways to ensure consistent progression, calibration, and technical depth worldwide, with a particular focus on strengthening these aspects in Hyderabad.
- Exercise clear authority in decision-making by advising product engineering leaders on architecture, quality, and delivery matters, and intervening when standards, security, or technical craftsmanship are at risk.
- Partner with Engineering Operations to improve developer experience through continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) and AI-assisted workflows, ensuring tooling supports rather than circumvents established standards.
- Drive the scaling of engineering excellence via chapters, mentorship programs, and targeted enablement initiatives that genuinely reinforce standards and talent development, avoiding superficial efforts.

Required Qualifications

- Over 10 years of engineering leadership experience, with a proven track record of raising standards in large, multi-site organizations comprising 500+ engineers.
- Demonstrated success in implementing significant cultural and operational resets, including raising hiring bars, refining performance calibration, enforcing architecture and quality gates, and maintaining accountability for delivery quality beyond just managing guilds or frameworks.
- Strong hands-on technical skills with the ability to collaborate on code and provide credible guidance across web, mobile, and backend technologies.
- Solid product intuition encompassing user experience, business logic, and non-functional requirements, with a clear understanding of what constitutes high-quality end-to-end solutions.
- Experience owning career frameworks, engineering standards, and Secure SDLC processes, preferably within financial services or other regulated industries.
- Proven background in building or transforming major engineering hubs or multi-site centers of excellence, successfully attracting senior talent and establishing the site as a strategic asset rather than a cost center.
- Practical experience driving AI adoption in product development, with sound judgment on where AI enhances quality and where it does not.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of setting a clear vision, providing reasoned refusals, and uniting leaders around shared standards and commitments.
