The Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) seeks diligent Field Surveyors to conduct direct data collection from respondents in designated communities and households. This role focuses on gathering accurate and reliable information through interviews and observations, contributing to programs aimed at reducing poverty. Field Surveyors operate primarily in various environments that require travel, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to establish trust with diverse populations. Candidates must have a strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality data collection and report preparation. Field Surveyors will play a vital role in supporting poverty eradication efforts by systematically documenting field data which is crucial to research and analysis. The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least five years of fieldwork or data collection experience. This role requires excellent active listening skills, cultural awareness, and the capacity to engage with respondents respectfully and effectively. Although this position does not involve team management responsibilities, the Field Surveyor must work independently and adhere to ethical standards while maintaining accurate records for reporting purposes.
Responsibilities

Conduct direct interviews and perform observations to collect data from respondents in assigned areas.
Travel regularly to designated households or communities to carry out surveys as per organizational guidelines.
Ensure data accuracy and completeness during collection, paying close attention to detail and cultural nuances.
Build rapport and trust with respondents to facilitate effective communication and reliable data gathering.
Prepare clear and comprehensive reports based on collected field data for analysis and decision-making.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards when handling sensitive respondent information.
Utilize Geographic Information Systems tools to record and manage spatial data accurately.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors by providing timely updates on field activities and challenges.
Follow health and safety regulations while working in various field environments.
Adapt to changing field conditions and problem-solve to ensure continuous data collection efforts.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
