The Finance Manager KP at Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) plays a critical role in overseeing the financial health and stability of the organization. This position is responsible for leading the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and implementing effective risk management practices. Serving as a key decision-maker, the Finance Manager ensures compliance with financial reporting standards such as IFRS and GAAP while identifying and mitigating financial risks. The role involves strategic financial planning that supports the organization's goals of poverty eradication.
This position leads and manages a team of 10 finance professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. The Finance Manager monitors financial processes and policies, promotes best practices, and collaborates closely with other departments to support organizational growth and sustainability. The ideal candidate holds an MBA in Finance or equivalent and brings a minimum of five years of experience in finance management.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and GAAP standards.
- Develop, manage, and oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to support organizational planning and resource allocation.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential risks affecting the organization's financial performance.
- Establish and implement risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies to safeguard organizational assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to optimize financial operations and support strategic objectives.
- Coordinate and oversee financial audits, liaising with auditors and internal stakeholders to facilitate a smooth audit process.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to a finance team of 10, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with program directors and senior management to align financial planning with programmatic goals and funding requirements.
- Monitor and report on key financial metrics and indicators, presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and reporting standards, ensuring the organizations adherence to all legal and ethical requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of financial information.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
