Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) is seeking an experienced Girls' Education Specialist to lead efforts in advancing educational opportunities for girls. The specialist plays a critical role in designing, managing, and implementing programs aimed at improving girls' learning outcomes and fostering inclusive education environments. Utilizing a deep understanding of feminist theory and gender analysis frameworks, the specialist will advocate for gender equity in education and work to dismantle barriers that prevent girls from fully participating in learning. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and demands strong leadership skills as it involves managing a team of 25 persons dedicated to these goals.
The ideal candidate holds a masters degree and brings at least 10 years of experience in girls' learning and inclusion. They must demonstrate expertise in program design and management, gender analysis and advocacy, and planning and implementing advocacy campaigns. The specialist will be responsible for developing targeted strategies addressing the unique challenges faced by girls in education, ensuring programs are evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and aligned with international best practices. Effective team management and capacity development will be essential to ensure sustained impact and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and manage programs aimed at enhancing girls' education and inclusion across diverse contexts.
- Lead gender analysis efforts using established frameworks to identify barriers and opportunities for girls learning.
- Plan and implement advocacy campaigns to raise awareness and influence policies supporting gender equity in education.
- Integrate feminist theory principles into program strategies to promote transformative approaches toward girls empowerment.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of 25 professionals, ensuring high performance and alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on program progress and impact, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and achieve goals.
- Collaborate with government bodies, non-governmental organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and resource mobilization.
- Conduct training sessions and capacity-building workshops to strengthen skills related to gender analysis and advocacy among team members and partners.
- Ensure all educational programs comply with inclusion policies and address the needs of marginalized and vulnerable girls.
- Support research initiatives to inform program innovation and policy recommendations in girls education.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
