The Research Analyst at Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) plays a crucial role in supporting the organizations mission by conducting thorough research and analysis to inform decision-making processes. This position involves gathering, organizing, and interpreting data using qualitative and quantitative methods to deliver clear and comprehensive insights. The analyst supports multiple stages of data collection and analysis, including documentary review and evidence indexing, to ensure data accuracy and relevance. With a focus on competitive and market research, the role demands strong report writing skills to clearly communicate findings and support program evaluations. The Research Analyst collaborates closely with various stakeholders to maintain evidence logs and conduct data extraction and tabulation tasks during evaluation cycles. This role requires attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple preparation cycles and provide enhanced support during evaluation weeks. Although this position does not involve managing a team, it requires independent work and the ability to contribute meaningfully to multidisciplinary projects and strategic research efforts, supporting PEIs goal of developing effective strategies for poverty eradication.
Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed data collection, cleansing, and preparation for multiple evaluation cycles to ensure the integrity and completeness of evidence indexes.
  • Conduct thorough documentary reviews and maintain comprehensive evidence logs to support evaluation processes.
  • Extract, analyze, and tabulate quantitative and qualitative data to support research findings and program evaluations.
  • Apply market research techniques and competitive analysis to identify key trends and insights relevant to poverty eradication initiatives.
  • Develop, write, and present detailed research reports and annexes that clearly communicate complex data findings and recommendations.
  • Utilize statistical analysis tools and research methodologies to interpret data and ensure research accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align research objectives with organizational goals and support the development of evidence-based strategies.
  • Maintain meticulous records of research activities to facilitate smooth evaluation weeks and ongoing program monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and requirements in all research documentation and data handling.
  • Stay informed on new research methods and tools to continuously enhance data analysis and reporting quality.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
