This role demands expertise in collecting, analyzing, and reporting disaggregated data based on gender and other social determinants to inform decision-making and improve health outcomes. By applying gender integration and assessment frameworks, the Social Inclusion Specialist ensures systematic inclusion of women and marginalized groups in programmatic strategies and monitoring systems. The specialist works closely with stakeholders to bridge gaps in health equity and develops actionable recommendations to foster sustainable workforce composition and equitable resource distribution, thereby directly contributing to poverty eradication through enhanced community health inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement gender integration strategies across project methodologies to enhance female participation within health and social programs.
- Lead the application of gender analysis frameworks and health equity monitoring tools to assess disparities in health service delivery and workforce composition.
- Manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of 20 professionals, ensuring effective collaboration and capacity building on gender and social inclusion issues.
- Conduct last-mile analyses focusing on frontline health workers, including Lady Health Workers and Community Midwives, to improve health equity and access to services.
- Oversee disaggregated data collection, analysis, and reporting related to family planning and RMNCAH-N commodity availability to inform evidence-based decisions.
- Advise program teams on integrating gender perspectives into monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress on social inclusion goals.
- Develop training materials and conduct workshops to strengthen the understanding and application of gender integration and social inclusion principles within the organization and partner institutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure workforce sustainability through balanced gender composition and equitable access to career development opportunities.
- Utilize data collection and analysis software tailored for gender studies to enhance data quality, visualization, and dissemination.
- Monitor and evaluate program impacts on gender equity and social inclusion, preparing comprehensive reports for senior management and external partners.
- Support policy development aimed at reducing health disparities by incorporating gender and social inclusion perspectives.
- Promote community engagement to foster inclusive participation and collective ownership of health initiatives.
- Identify gaps and barriers to gender equity in health programs and propose innovative solutions to address systemic challenges.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in gender and social inclusion in health to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
