Pre-Sales Engineer- Power Technology

Makkays is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Pre-Sales Engineer specializing in Power Technology to join their team in Karachi, Pakistan. This full-time, onsite role involves providing critical technical support to the Sales department by reviewing customer requirements, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), selecting appropriate products, and coordinating with internal teams and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience working with UPS, batteries, power backup systems, renewable energy solutions, and related electrical equipment. The role demands the ability to develop technically compliant, comprehensive, and competitive proposals within tight deadlines while maintaining strong communication and coordination across departments.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Sales team by managing customer inquiries, Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and tender processes.
- Review customer specifications, BOQs, electrical drawings, and technical requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare detailed BOQs for UPS, Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVRs), batteries, battery chargers, lithium batteries, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and other power-related solutions.
- Perform preliminary sizing and selection of UPS systems, batteries, AVRs, lithium battery systems, hybrid inverters, and other power equipment.
- Conduct basic load calculations and battery backup sizing to support solution design.
- Develop BOQs, technical compliance statements, datasheets, and other supporting documentation for proposals.
- Identify any missing scope items, technical risks, assumptions, and exclusions prior to proposal submission.
- Participate in site surveys and technical meetings with customers as needed.
- Provide support during pre-bid meetings, tender clarifications, and technical discussions.
- Coordinate effectively with Sales, Engineering, Service, Supply Chain teams, and suppliers to gather necessary technical and commercial information.
- Maintain and update standard templates and records related to BOQs, technical proposals, calculations, and product data.
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to customer inquiries and tender requirements, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in pre-sales, power systems, UPS, batteries, renewable energy, or related electrical solutions.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems and critical power solutions.
- Proven experience in preparing BOQs, technical proposals, and compliance documentation.
- Basic knowledge of UPS, batteries, AVRs, and renewable energy systems.
- Ability to perform load calculations and battery sizing accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Competence in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple inquiries simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Candidates with hands-on experience in renewable energy solutions and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be preferred. The position offers a competitive monthly salary starting from Rs70,000.
