Principle Engineer

Zones, a global leader in end-to-end IT solutions and a Minority Business Enterprise with over 35 years of experience, is seeking a Principal Engineer to join its digital transformation team. Operating in more than 120 countries, Zones specializes in Digital Workplace, Cloud & Data Center, Networking, Security, and Managed/Professional/Staffing services. The Principal Engineer will play a critical role in shaping and scaling the Zones Digital Platform, a next-generation technology and workforce management system designed to streamline IT supply chains and deliver integrated technology solutions worldwide. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of a $2 billion company while working alongside innovative teams in Zones’ Digital Innovation Centers located in Seattle, New York, and Islamabad.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and implementation strategy for the Zones Digital Platform, ensuring enterprise-grade SaaS solutions.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineering management, program managers, and product teams to guide interdisciplinary design efforts.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned technical areas, providing software and system-level guidance.
- Develop and document component and subsystem specifications, including material requirements.
- Offer technical expertise and support to engineers and other technical personnel.
- Coordinate with technical management and cross-functional teams to recommend and monitor technical progress.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and team members as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of progressive engineering experience with at least 5 years as a principal software engineer supporting enterprise software.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with e-commerce or payment systems.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Expert-level skills in developing microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Proven experience in design, build, and deployment systems for complex projects.
- Proficiency in programming languages including C/C++, Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
