The Product Manager - Cards will lead the development, management, and growth of HugoBank’s Credit Card portfolio, including both secured and unsecured products. This role holds end-to-end ownership of the product strategy, design, performance, and regulatory compliance throughout the card lifecycle—from acquisition and activation to usage, collections, and retention. The position is critical in shaping the bank’s credit card offerings by leveraging data insights, strategic partnerships, and customer feedback to drive portfolio expansion and promote financial inclusion in line with HugoBank’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Proposition Development:
Define and implement the comprehensive product strategy for the credit card portfolio, ensuring alignment with the bank’s financial inclusion and lending-first goals. Develop differentiated customer value propositions targeting key segments such as salaried millennials, professionals, and emerging credit users. Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to uncover opportunities and pricing gaps specific to the Pakistani market. Maintain the Credit Card Product Roadmap, coordinating with internal teams and external partners like Visa, PayPak, and Mastercard to create attractive propositions with strong rewards and engagement potential.

Product Design, Development & Implementation:
Translate product ideas into detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and collaborate with Technology and Operations teams to deliver solutions on schedule. Drive the development of new features, loyalty programs, and digital enhancements to elevate user experience and product differentiation. Manage relationships with vendors and processors for card issuance, tokenization, personalization, and lifecycle management. Support testing phases, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post-launch monitoring to ensure smooth rollouts. Continuously review customer journeys to identify pain points and recommend improvements. Explore embedded card opportunities such as co-branded or partnership cards and stay updated on emerging technologies like tokenization, contactless payments, and AI-driven credit scoring.

Portfolio Management & Performance Optimization:
Monitor key portfolio metrics including activation rates, utilization, delinquency, and profitability. Lead initiatives to boost spending, retention, and cross-selling by leveraging customer insights and behavioral data. Develop strategies to transition secured cardholders to unsecured products based on credit behavior and repayment history. Manage the product’s profit and loss statement in collaboration with Finance, tracking revenue streams and controlling costs. Design and execute campaigns to enhance product stickiness and customer engagement. Streamline lending processes to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Governance, Risk & Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulations, consumer protection standards, and internal risk policies. Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to secure necessary documentation, disclosures, and product approvals. Work with Fraud Risk and Operations teams to establish robust chargeback, dispute, and fraud monitoring frameworks. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify control gaps and implement corrective measures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the primary product liaison across Technology, Credit Risk, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Experience teams. Engage with external partners to facilitate innovation and seamless product delivery. Partner with Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, customer education programs, and lifecycle communications.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Participate in cross-departmental workshops and agile sprints, providing product insights. Coordinate with Operations and Contact Centre teams to resolve customer service issues related to card activation, billing, rewards, and disputes. Work with Back-Office and Finance to ensure accurate reconciliation of transactions, fees, and commissions. Support preparation of regulatory submissions, inspection responses, and compliance reports. Review marketing materials to ensure compliance approval before release.
