Product & QA Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Product & QA Specialist to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our Android mobile applications (both native and hybrid), web applications, and .NET backend APIs. This role will primarily support the BNP application, all web applications, and backend systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing, API testing, test case development, defect management, and product documentation. Experience testing applications that integrate with mobile hardware and device capabilities is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform manual and automated testing of Android mobile and web applications.
- Validate business processes and rules through application and web interfaces.
- Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, end-to-end, exploratory, negative, and boundary testing scenarios.
- Create and maintain comprehensive test cases, test scenarios, test plans, regression suites, and QA checklists.
- Test complete user journeys and business workflows based on product requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Test and validate .NET REST APIs using Postman or similar tools, including API requests/responses, authentication, authorization, status codes, error handling, and data consistency.
- Verify data flow and integration among Android applications, web applications, APIs, and databases.
- Perform basic SQL/database validation and query writing as needed.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, logs, screenshots, and videos.
- Retest fixes and conduct regression testing accordingly.
- Conduct Android device and OS compatibility testing across various devices and configurations.
- Test mobile application behavior under different network conditions, including poor or no connectivity and offline scenarios.
- Test mobile hardware and device capabilities such as QR/barcode scanners, biometric devices/templates, GPS/location services, camera, fingerprint/biometric authentication, NFC, Bluetooth-connected devices, device storage, network connectivity, push notifications, device permissions, and SIM/mobile network functionality.
- Assess application behavior during device interruptions like calls, notifications, app switching, screen locking, low battery, and network changes.
- Perform responsive, cross-browser, and compatibility testing for web applications.
- Review requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product designs to identify missing scenarios, ambiguities, and potential risks.
- Create and maintain product and QA documentation, including feature documentation, user flows, business rules, test documentation, release notes, and known issues.
- Conduct release validation, production smoke testing, and post-deployment verification.
- Support investigation and validation of production issues.
- Collaborate closely with PMU Head, Technical Team Lead (Solution Architect), Business Analysts, .NET Developers, Android Developers, Web Developers, Database Developers, UI/UX, and DevOps teams.
- Participate in sprint planning, requirement discussions, backlog refinement, bug triage, and release activities.
- Continuously improve QA processes, test coverage, automation, and overall product quality.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Software QA/Testing.
- Strong hands-on experience in manual testing.
- Practical experience with automated testing and familiarity with frameworks/tools such as Selenium, Appium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
- Proven experience testing Android mobile and web applications.
- Experience with REST API testing using tools like Postman.
- Ability to write detailed test cases and test scenarios.
- Solid knowledge of functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, exploratory, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
- Good understanding of SQL and database validation.
- Experience with Jira or similar defect/project management tools.
- Familiarity with SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and QA processes.
- Strong defect analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective test coverage.
- Experience developing and maintaining AI-driven test automation frameworks for functional, performance, and regression testing.
- Familiarity with AI-powered testing tools such as Testim.io, Functionize, or Mabl.
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Experience:
- Comfortable testing applications that interact with mobile hardware and device capabilities, including QR/barcode scanning, biometrics, GPS, camera, NFC, Bluetooth, fingerprint authentication, location services, push notifications, device permissions, mobile networks, Wi-Fi, and offline/online synchronization.
- Experience troubleshooting device-level issues using Android Studio, ADB, device logs, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Ability to review requirements and acceptance criteria, identify missing business rules and edge cases, document product workflows and feature behavior, and maintain comprehensive test and product documentation.
- Skilled in identifying usability and user-experience issues, providing QA status updates, release risks, recommendations, and contributing to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, technically curious, and capable of independently managing QA activities for assigned product features from requirements gathering through production release. This is a one-year contract position based in Islamabad, with the possibility of extension.
