The Program Officer role based in Karachi, Pakistan, supports the British Asian Trust’s Mental Health portfolio by ensuring effective project management and coordination. This position involves working closely with implementing partners to enhance project delivery, monitoring and evaluating ongoing initiatives, supporting communications and events, and collaborating with the Pakistan team to identify new opportunities and design impactful projects based on lessons learned. The role reports to the Senior Programme Manager, Mental Health, and is a full-time position without line management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination with Implementing Partners:
Support due diligence processes for new partners and assist them in improving systems and processes to meet high standards of project delivery. Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with partners, ensuring clear and timely communication on all project matters. Implement adaptive management practices to incorporate partner feedback for continuous programme improvement.

Project Monitoring:
Collaborate with the Senior Programme Manager and the British Asian Trust Programme team to develop and implement a project monitoring strategy that supports partners, ensures timely implementation, and verifies project outcomes. Conduct regular site visits according to a pre-agreed schedule and monitoring checklist. Oversee safeguarding measures across projects, report any incidents, and build partner capacity where needed. Facilitate improved data collection, verification, and analysis, including the development of data collection tools. Maximise the use of Salesforce software for data management and provide partners with necessary training and support. Maintain project records and share insights to inform strategic decision-making. Review partners’ monitoring and evaluation procedures and provide supportive supervision. Develop tools and systems to ensure donor compliance and data quality. Strengthen organisational capacity in monitoring and evaluation methods. Assist managers in producing high-quality reports and impact narratives. Regularly review project workplans, budgets, tracking sheets, log frames, and data sheets. Provide quarterly KPI reports to the UK programme team and routine progress updates in collaboration with the M&E team.

Project Learning and Reporting:
Work with Programme Managers and communications teams in Pakistan and the UK to effectively communicate project impact through compelling stories, photos, videos, case studies, and other collateral. Develop and implement communications and engagement strategies for each project, ensuring donor requirements are met. Support the planning, design, and coordination of mental health programme events. Analyse and report data from studies and maintain regular liaison with the Pakistan Mental Health Coalition (PMHC).

Resource Mobilisation:
Collaborate with the Pakistan and Fundraising teams to design new programmes informed by project learnings and best practices. Assist in identifying new implementing partners as needed.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in monitoring, outreach, programme design, project management, or related public health roles.
- Strong data analytical skills with sound judgment under pressure and the ability to identify solutions for project risks and challenges.
- Experience managing programme finances and tracking.
- Excellent numeracy skills and confidence in data collection, analysis, and management.
- Advanced computer literacy; experience with Salesforce is advantageous.
- Ability to travel regularly and independently within Pakistan.
- Proficiency in local languages, especially those spoken in Sindh and Punjab provinces.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships across local and international teams.
- Highly organised with excellent planning, prioritisation, and deadline management abilities.
- Passionate about international health and development, with a focus on mental health.
