We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant / Site Accountant with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience to oversee all financial, billing, and cost-control functions related to construction sites and development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing accounts specifically for construction projects, ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting to support project success. This role demands hands-on involvement in day-to-day site accounting activities and close collaboration with project teams to maintain financial discipline and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Project Costing & Control: Monitor daily project-wise costs, track budget adherence, and manage allocation of site expenses to ensure financial accuracy.
Site Expense Management: Administer petty cash and site operation vouchers, verifying that all on-site transactions are supported by proper documentation.
Vendor & Subcontractor Billing: Review and validate subcontractor invoices, cross-check on-site work measurements against bills, and manage accounts payable processes efficiently.
Inventory Tracking: Work closely with store-in-charges and engineers to record material deliveries, conduct stock reconciliations, and maintain accurate usage records.
Financial Reporting: Prepare regular profit and loss statements, cash flow forecasts, and update project budgets for review by senior management.
Compliance & Auditing: Perform routine audits of site accounts and ensure compliance with local tax regulations and company policies.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce (B.Com), Business Administration (BBA), or MBA.
Industry Experience: Proven experience in construction or engineering project-based accounting is mandatory.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel and practical experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or construction-specific ERP systems.
Core Competencies: Strong understanding of Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cash handling protocols, and material reconciliation processes.
Communication: Excellent coordination and communication skills to effectively liaise between project managers, site engineers, and the head office.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000. This is an on-site role requiring physical presence at the work location to ensure close monitoring and management of site financial activities.
