Avanceon is a globally recognized system integrator specializing in control, instrumentation, and automation solutions across industries such as oil & gas, utilities, and manufacturing. With decades of expertise, the company focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and asset performance through advanced engineering and execution excellence. The Execution Lead role, based in Karachi and reporting to the Head of Projects within the PMT-South department, is a full-time, site-based position responsible for managing the entire field execution lifecycle. This role ensures the proper installation, commissioning, and handover of PLC/SCADA systems, industrial electrical works, and Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) installations while maintaining safety, quality, and timely delivery across complex, multi-site projects.
Key Responsibilities
PLC/SCADA & Automation Execution: Oversee the installation, wiring, and termination of PLC/SCADA panels, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), communication networks, and system hardware. Support control teams during critical testing phases such as I/O checks, logic validation, interlock testing, and communication setup. Ensure accurate field wiring, device addressing, and seamless integration with sensors, actuators, MCC/VFDs, and ATG systems.
Electrical & MCC/VFD Works: Manage the installation of electrical panels, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), power cables, grounding systems, and circuit protections. Lead pre-energization activities including Insulation Resistance (IR) tests and continuity checks to guarantee electrical safety and integrity. Collaborate closely with electrical supervisors and technicians to ensure proper sequencing and safety compliance.
ATG System Installation & Commissioning: Supervise installation and configuration of ATG probes, sensors, consoles, communication modules, tank fittings, and cabling. Lead testing activities such as probe calibration, alarm verification, level validation, and final integration with PLC/SCADA or Tank Management Systems (TMS). Ensure strict adherence to OEM installation guidelines and safety protocols related to tank works.
Site Execution Management: Plan, allocate, and supervise daily activities for diverse site teams including technicians, fitters, electricians, and subcontractors. Ensure all work complies with approved drawings, Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and QA/QC standards. Monitor site progress proactively, identify bottlenecks, and resolve technical or execution challenges to maintain schedule.
Resource Handling & Coordination: Efficiently manage manpower deployment and resource allocation across multiple sites. Maintain productivity, safety discipline, and performance of all site teams. Coordinate material handling, site logistics, and readiness of tools and equipment. Liaise effectively with engineering, procurement, OEMs, and customer representatives to ensure unified project execution.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover: Lead final system testing including loop checks, functional testing, interlock validation, and network testing. Prepare and manage punch lists, test reports, and commissioning documentation. Support formal system handover and customer acceptance processes.
Required Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience: 5 to 10+ years of direct experience in automation, PLC/SCADA systems, industrial electrical execution, and ATG installations.
Industry Preference: Proven field execution experience in oil & gas terminals, utilities, or industrial bulk handling automation.
Core Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of PLC/SCADA architectures, field instrumentation, MCC/VFD systems, and ATG equipment. Hands-on expertise in installation supervision, troubleshooting, loop checks, and commissioning. Proficiency in interpreting technical documents such as wiring diagrams, GA drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, and control philosophies. Demonstrated ability in team supervision, resource management, and coordination across multiple sites.
Personal Attributes
Execution-driven with strong technical acumen and organizational skills. Proactive problem solver capable of working efficiently under tight deadlines. Effective communicator and leader, skilled in managing diverse site teams and stakeholder engagement. Committed to upholding safety, quality, and compliance standards at all times.
This role offers the opportunity to lead critical automation and electrical projects within a dynamic, global environment, contributing directly to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
