Nowa Star Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Project Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, BOQs, quotations, and tender submissions for MEP and Civil Works projects. The role involves reviewing drawings, specifications, BOQs, tender documents, and client requirements to determine project quantities, material and labor costs, subcontracting needs, and overall pricing. Experience with estimation and tendering in the Saudi Arabian market is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project scope thoroughly.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs specifically for MEP and Civil Works.
- Develop accurate project cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, transportation, subcontractors, overheads, preliminaries, and other related expenses.
- Prepare BOQs, commercial quotations, cost sheets, and complete tender submissions.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Prepare technical and commercial comparison statements to support decision-making.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding prices, technical datasheets, lead times, warranty details, and commercial terms.
- Identify discrepancies, missing quantities, exclusions, and unclear scope in tender documents.
- Prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintain updated databases of material, equipment, labor, and subcontractor rates.
- Assist management in determining project margins, markups, discounts, contingencies, and final tender pricing.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, design, and project execution teams.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Prepare tender clarifications and respond to client technical and commercial queries.
- Review project specifications to ensure proposed materials and equipment comply with client requirements.
- Maintain proper records of quotations, supplier offers, BOQs, cost sheets, and tender documentation.
- Prepare budget comparisons and cost control information post project award.
- Incorporate Saudi Arabian market rates, project practices, supplier availability, and tender requirements into project estimates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related engineering discipline.
- Candidates with strong practical estimation experience and relevant technical qualifications will also be considered.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in project estimation, tendering, costing, quantity surveying, or proposal preparation.
- Experience with MEP contractors, HVAC contractors, civil contractors, construction companies, or engineering consultancies is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation and quantity take-off.
- Ability to read and interpret Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of AutoCAD. Familiarity with estimation and quantity take-off software is an advantage.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills with good understanding of construction methodologies and MEP systems.
- Knowledge of current market prices for engineering and construction materials.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Ability to work effectively under tender deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working on Saudi Arabian projects or preparing tenders for the KSA construction market. This includes familiarity with Saudi market rates, suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, and material pricing, as well as knowledge of Saudi-based consultants, contractors, clients, and tendering practices. Understanding labor, transportation, logistics, and subcontracting costs within Saudi Arabia is highly desirable. Candidates should be capable of evaluating quotations in SAR and preparing commercially competitive project pricing.
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, commercially aware, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing the entire estimation and tendering process for Civil and MEP projects—from inquiry receipt through quantity take-off, vendor RFQs, costing, technical evaluation, commercial pricing, to final tender submission.
Compensation: Rs80,000 to Rs120,000 per month
