Project Manager / Product Owner – US Healthcare

Located near Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore, this full-time, on-site position is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Product Owner to lead a hospital system modernization program. The ideal candidate will have over eight years of experience managing large-scale enterprise software projects and will act as the primary liaison between client stakeholders, business users, and the engineering team. This role involves defining and managing the product roadmap, prioritizing requirements, overseeing project execution, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring delivery of measurable business value within schedule, quality, and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery Leadership: Lead the daily management of the hospital system modernization project using Agile/Scrum methodologies. Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, release schedules, and delivery roadmaps. Monitor progress, manage timelines, identify risks, and resolve issues proactively. Oversee project scope, change requests, dependencies, and resource coordination. Prepare and present regular status reports and executive summaries to stakeholders. Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, database, and business analysts to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and acceptance criteria.

Product Ownership & Requirements Management: Work closely with hospital system business users and stakeholders to understand workflows, challenges, and modernization goals. Define, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business value and technical dependencies. Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications. Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Make day-to-day product decisions and provide timely clarifications to the development team, ensuring modernization efforts preserve critical business functionality while enhancing usability, performance, and maintainability.

Stakeholder & Communication Management: Serve as the primary contact between client stakeholders and the delivery team. Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, and product demonstrations. Manage stakeholder expectations and align business objectives with technical implementation. Communicate project risks, decisions, dependencies, and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Quality, Compliance & Process Management: Ensure requirement traceability, testing readiness, and user acceptance processes. Coordinate with QA teams to define testing strategies, scenarios, and release readiness. Support compliance with healthcare industry standards, security requirements, and organizational policies. Continuously improve project processes, documentation standards, and Agile delivery practices.

Data Migration & Modernization Coordination: Oversee modernization activities including legacy system analysis, feature migration, browser modernization, and technology upgrades. Collaborate with architects and engineers to balance technical debt reduction with business priorities. Ensure migration phases are planned, validated, and communicated effectively.

AI-Assisted Delivery & Productivity Management: Promote adoption of AI-assisted tools and processes to enhance productivity, documentation, analysis, testing, and delivery efficiency. Track productivity improvements and help establish practical AI-driven development workflows.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required. Candidates must have over eight years of experience managing enterprise software projects, with at least five years in roles such as Project Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar leadership positions. Strong experience managing Agile/Scrum software development teams is essential. A proven track record of managing large, multi-year software modernization or digital transformation programs is expected. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), release management, and quality assurance processes. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar platforms is necessary. Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing healthcare software projects, including Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), or patient management systems is highly desirable. Understanding healthcare workflows, clinical operations, and administrative processes will be advantageous. A background in legacy system modernization and technology transformation projects is preferred. Familiarity with Java, React, APIs, databases, and modern software architectures will help in effective communication with engineering teams. Experience coordinating offshore and distributed development teams is a plus. Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR is beneficial. Relevant certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), PMP, or other Agile certifications are preferred. Experience working with AI-assisted project management and software development tools is an added advantage.
