The Project Manager, Project Administration, serves as a key representative of the University for Capital Projects, with a particular focus on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and construction trades. This role involves close collaboration with external contractors, project teams, construction contacts, and campus stakeholders. The Project Manager is responsible for reviewing design and construction documents, attending related meetings, managing project schedules and budgets, and monitoring progress on-site. All activities are conducted in alignment with the Capital Construction procedures manual to ensure compliance and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and coordinate design and construction activities impacting university facilities and grounds across the main and extended campuses.
- Coordinate efforts among architects, engineers, contractors, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and other professionals to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Represent the University in managing capital construction projects and renovations.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all parties involved in construction projects.
- Schedule and lead pre-construction, post-construction, progress, and other project-related meetings.
- Prepare reports, summaries, memos, and recommendations as requested by the Associate Director of Campus Construction and Project Management.
- Conduct inspections of construction and renovation work to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications, addressing any deviations through the proper channels.
- Develop specifications for materials and equipment used in construction projects.
- Organize, budget, and track projects from initial programming through to completion.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Campus Construction and Project Management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in engineering or construction is essential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of construction and project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with applicable construction codes and standards.
- Ability to prepare construction plans, specifications, and material take-offs.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

The position offers full-time employment (40 hours per week or more) and is classified as exempt under FLSA guidelines. The role is based at the Richmond Campus and falls under the KTRS retirement system. The salary grade is Exempt - G22.
