We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Purchaser to join our Head Office team in Islamabad, with preference given to candidates from Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Reporting directly to the Project Manager and functionally to the Head of Procurement/DGM, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing procurement activities for electrical and maintenance-related items, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing to support ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire procurement cycle independently, including purchase requisition, RFQ, quotation analysis, negotiation, purchase order issuance, follow-up, delivery coordination, inspection, and invoice processing.
- Source and procure electrical items such as cables, wires, switchgear, motors, transformers, UPS systems, lighting, and related consumables.
- Handle MRO and maintenance items including fasteners, hand and power tools, lubricants, PPE, and miscellaneous spare parts.
- Understand technical specifications to compare products and identify suitable suppliers.
- Coordinate urgent and emergency purchases, especially for electrical breakdowns, ensuring materials reach project sites promptly while maintaining internal controls.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, maintenance teams, and stores to monitor material availability and delivery schedules.
- Identify, qualify, and develop vendors, negotiate pricing and lead times, assess quality, and maintain an approved vendor database.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with client procedures, site security, HSE requirements, and authorization protocols.
- Utilize ERP systems and MS Excel for purchase requisition and order processing, vendor management, material tracking, and procurement reporting.
- Uphold professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum education of BA/B.Com/BBA/BS; a DAE or technical qualification in Electrical is advantageous.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in project procurement within industries such as tobacco, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, telecom, power, cement, food, manufacturing, or engineering services.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and maintenance item specifications and sourcing.
- Proficiency in procurement processes including competitive quotation sourcing, comparative statement preparation, price negotiation, and supplier follow-up.
- Intermediate skills in MS Excel and experience with ERP purchase modules; familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, or similar systems is preferred.
- Solid commercial understanding of price comparison, landed cost, payment and credit terms, taxes, warranty, and supplier creditworthiness.
- Ability to work independently, manage urgent procurement needs, and maintain vendor relationships without compromising company policies.
