Role Description The Psychiatrist will provide on-site, part-time clinical services at the center in Karāchi, working closely with patients recovering from substance use disorders. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosing co-occurring mental health conditions, developing and updating treatment plans, and prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications in coordination with the medical team.

The role involves delivering individual and group psychiatric consultations, collaborating with psychologists, counselors, and other health professionals, and participating in case discussions to ensure integrated, holistic care. The Psychiatrist will also provide guidance on crisis management, contribute to staff training on mental health and addiction, and help shape evidence-based protocols that support patient safety, recovery, and relapse prevention.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Medicine and Psychiatry, with the ability to manage complex addiction-related cases.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Psychiatric Care and Mental Health, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience or training in Adolescent Psychiatry and adult psychiatry, particularly in the context of substance use and rehabilitation.
  • Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Psychiatry; valid professional registration and license to practice.
  • Experience in addiction medicine or working in rehabilitation, community mental health, or similar settings is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Commitment to ethical, non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive care.
  • Strong documentation, time-management, and organizational skills, with a focus on continuity and quality of care.
